I stumbled upon Jerry Goldsmith's score for Powder for the first time a few days ago. Never seen the movie, but it is a very heartfelt score. A "new" Goldsmith discovery for me. |

The last time I made a Goldsmith discovery was in May 2005. I bought Varese's Club release of ALIEN NATION. I've always liked the movie but thought there was something that bugged me about it. Curt Sobel's score was too stiff, so when I heard Jerry's rejected synthscore it opened a whole new door to this old gem... Instead of being just a "Action/Comedy-Buddy-Cop-Movie" it got a more "Predator/Terminator esque" action toned edge. Just by Jerry's score. I think the movie would have been more remembered if they kept his score instead of replaceing it with Sobel's. Would love if 20:th Century Fow would release a DVD containing Goldsmith's rejected score. - One of my favourite Goldsmith scores and one of the scores that started my long life hunt for filmmusic is RUNAWAY. Gotta love that End credits. Another newly discoverd favourite is Intrada's old release of RENT-A-COP. One of Jerry's best Themes. Did'nt like the movie tho. |

The Burbs didnt do much for me. Its one where the synth stuff seemed to annoy me. (But I didn't mind it in Supergirl, so who knows?) |
