Hello everyone.

I'm just new to the forum but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to inform you all that our film music review site (BSOSpirit) is currently announcing its II International Film Music Conference.

Basil Poledouris, John Debney, Bruno Coulais, Stephen Warbeck and Robert Townson are already confirmed speakers!

Plus there will be TWO concerts, one conducted by Basil Poledouris himself and another one to be yet announced.

To learn more about our event, please visit our dedicated site:

http://congreso.bsospirit.com/index_e.html

or check the official press release below:

Popular Spanish Film Music E-magazine BSOSpirit is announcing its II International Film Music Congress in Úbeda, Spain. 20 - 23 July.

Basil Poledouris, John Debney, John Frizzell, Bruno Coulais, Stephen Warbeck and Robert Townson will attend among others.

After the unprecedented success of last year’s event with more than 200 attendees from all over the world, a second edition of the Congress is currently in preparation. The 2006 gathering will mark a noteworthy leap forward, featuring a series of ground-breaking and appealing sessions, roundtables and panels on music for film, shows, TV and gaming by some of the heavyweights in the industry.

Furthermore, the symposium will be enhanced by an entirely new set of proposals, including two very much anticipated symphonic concerts: a World Premiere performance of Basil Poledouris works, conducted by the composer himself plus a second concert with selections from major scores by some other guest composers. Plus, many more surprises!

Other highlights will consist of a new and second-hand marketplace, a welcome reception cocktail with composers, a cultural stroll with their participation through the Renaissance monuments located in the historic city and the Gold Spirit Awards Ceremony, where audiences will be invited to actively join us in acknowledging our guests’ contributions. Throughout the programme, sufficient time will also be devoted to composers signing copies of their albums.

As a distinct feature, the three-day event will, once again, place special emphasis on fostering a growing dialogue between panellists and attendees, thus creating a relaxed setting that meets the goal of offering countless networking opportunities and unlimited access to composers and important industry players.

Following the steps of Brian Tyler, Don Davis, Sean Callery and many other distinguished guests, this year’s confirmed speakers already include the likes of Basil Poledouris, John Debney, the award-winning talents Stephen Warbeck and Bruno Coulais as well as John Frizzell, who will further honour us chairing the II Congress. In addition, well-known soundtrack producer and Varese Sarabande Records, Inc. Vice-President Robert Townson will further illustrate us with his privileged knowledge about the industry.

Also, several well-known Spanish composers such as the Goya Award nominee Pablo Cervantes and Javier Navarrete, who has just completed working on Guillermo del Toro’s last film, will be present, as well as record-label execs and other relevant music professionals. We expect other well-known attendees to join them at this event!

Delegates will receive a complimentary CD containing never previously released music and, furthermore, they will also have a chance of winning some of the many prizes to be given away by courtesy of our sponsors and speakers. In line with last year’s policy, we will, once again, offer affordable prices for both sessions and accommodation. Luxurious hotels will be available for as low as 56 euros (about 70 USD), concerts will cost 20 euros each (about 25 USD) and the whole package of activities (sessions + concerts) will be in the range of 50 euros (about 60 USD).

The venue

The small city of Úbeda, a Unesco-designated World Heritage site, is a beautiful and peaceful spot located in the heart of the amazing Guadalquivir River valley, one of the most spectacular regions in Spain. With over 90 singular landmarks and a sound experience in welcoming visitors, this charming town is conveniently close to all the major cities of Andalusia, in Southern Spain, a world-famous county both for its culinary values and for its being home to many important tourist attractions such as the Alhambra fortress and the magnificent gardens of the Generalife in Granada, the Moorish-influenced historic centre of Córdoba or the monumental city of Seville.

In the cultural arena, the city of Úbeda is proud of its proven track-record of success, hosting highly-acclaimed events such as the renowned International Music and Dance Festival with performances by the soprano Montserrat Caballé and the tenor José Carreras, the famous Corean pianist Yung Wook Yoo and eminent ensembles like the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir or the St. Petersburg National Ballet.

Save the dates 20 – 23 July 2006 in your agenda!

Stay tuned for further updates!
