A couple of ones that I did recently. When I can afford it I do purchase them for my pleasure and review.

WARGAMES (Arthur B. Rubinstein)

First let me just say that it is for me the most outstanding limited release Intrada has ever done, because Wargames was such a major adventure score of the first half of the 80's alongside the Star Wars sequels, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Gremlins, Explorers, Cocoon, The Goonies, The Last Starfighter, Silverado, Young SH, Krull, etc.

It is in my opinion the best example of the eletronic/orchestral blend scoring that so strongly embodies that period in film music and remains the most brilliant and complex score from Arthur B. Rubinstein. In fact the thematic and melodic complexity reminds me very much of the same orchestral complexity of great Korngold scores like The Adventures of Robin Hood. Just like Korngold did with his themes and motives, Rubinstein likes to disguise his thematic material and to write arduous and unexpected melodies... that actually ends up to be working so well !

I've taken the time to put the CD in my stereo, sit down, relax and read carefully the -as usual- exciting booklet.
Every cue has something profound to tell about the film's fascinating subject, every sound is thrilling, every bit of this fantastic score is an unspeakable pleasure for my ears and my spirit, sincerely. From the so 80's electronic cues of the beginning, to the blasting orchestral adventure sequences and the moving tender Edge of the World melody, everything on this CD contributes to create a 70 minutes long powerful story with the mere musical language and a very inventive artistic creativity.

When the CD ended, I just looked at the CD case and realized how much I had expected such a release to happen and how precious the CD I was holding in my hand is, to my eyes and my heart. Wargames complete score is at last on my shelves and will be played over and over during my whole life in better conditions that I could have imagined. So thank you Douglas and all the Intrada staff, and thank you Arthur B. Rubinstein for having composed one of the greatest film scores of all times.
Film music gives me wings, really !

I´ve been an avid "soundtrack listener" as long as I´ve been watching movies. I grew up in the 80´s and this is the era I have come to love with it´s heroism and vigilante style movies that came out (Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Norris, Bronson etc)
I sat with my taperecorder infront of our TV and recorded the mainthemes from my most beloved movies, and one of these movies were Delta Force.
At this time e-bay and ordering abroad wasn´t to think of, and as this form of interest wasn´t big in my country, this was the "only" way for a kid to get the music.

FastForward to summer of 2008 and my newfound home at INTRADA.
What can I say???

The movie starts with a big explosion, a mission gone heywire, and Silvestris Maintheme kicks in. A pure adrenalinfilled theme with a beat that builds to a crescendo of heroism as Capt. Scott McCoy rushes into the blown up chopper to save one of his men from a certain death.
He carries the man out on his shoulders, and the maintitle appears "DELTA FORCE". This intro reminds me of another couple of movies, namely the James Bond movies...
Track 2 "Terrorists Board Jet" is a very haunting track that lurks out with a man placing "equipment" on an airplane, and soon after the passengers starting boardering the plane. What Silvestri shows in this track, is the danger that soon will unfold.
Track 3 "3 Am. Marines" is a sad cue that both shows heroism and helplessness when the American Marines are caught by the terrorists and you sence a bit of doom to come later on.
Track 4 "First Class" What can I say  Intrada, You Rock!!!
Track 5 "Rescue" The Rescue theme enters the terrorist lair and wipes the scum away. This track is a hybrid that also plays out when McCoy and Pete has a surveillance of the terrorist lair and the chase with the VW-buss unfolds. The main theme comes back here again and so does the adrenalinpumped beat. A strange ending to the track thou.
Track 6 "Hebrew Ring" is more of the sad theme that shows the hostage in the plane and the nerve-racking situation when some of them comes to term that their Jewish heritage won´t be seen with kindness.
Track 7 "Round Up and Collection" is more of the same as track 6.
Track 8 "More Terrorists" is more of an intro to track 9 #Delta Force Theme" and this is more the chase with the VW-buss theme and the best track on the whole CD (play this one loud) Silvestri leads the movie with this theme and this is an actionpacked sequence.
Track 10 "The Selections" is one of the most powerful tracks I´ve ever heard (along with Williams E.T) and when I listen to this track I am emotionally there with the hostages and must hold back the tears. Very moving and this cue shows what filmmusic can do with a special scene...
Track 11 "The Takeover" I so wants to be there along the rescuetheme when I listen to this track as this screams "GET READY"
Track 12 "The Funeral" is more of a filler for me and doesn´t give me anything more than a complete soundtrack.
Track 13 "Algiers" PAYBACK!!! you should see me right now...Bring on the bazookas...How can a synthesizer score be this awsome??
Track 14 "Endcredits" Ends this CD with a big bang as all the major themes are featured in here and rounds it off quite nicely...

This was "THE RELEASE" 2008, and everything else was a nice bonus.
I love Silvestris Back to the future, Predator and Judge Dredd, but Delta Force holds a very special plavce for me, and I so thank Intrada for this awsome release...

"INTRADA doesn´t negotiate with soundtrackcollectors...
They blow them away"

MISSING IN ACTION - INTRADA Special Collection Volume 91
Music Composed and Conducted by Jay Chattaway

Along time ago, Not in a galaxy far away, but in my parents basement
I would sit and record the film-music direct of the screen since there
was'nt any other way to get ahold of the scores back then.

Chattaway's Main Theme to Missing in Action was such a title along with
Delta Force, Invasion USA and Let's Get Harry to name a few.

And today, what a wonderful world of soundtracks we live in, much thanks
to the limited releases of record labels like Varese, FSM, LaLaLand and of
course Intrada most of my favourite scores are seing the light of day.
(Still waiting on "Let's Get Harry" from the Varese Club tho, so I can retire my LP.) :)

This review is of a score brought to you by the busiest label of them all.

Track 1 - Main Title
This Main Theme ranks as on of my favourites of all time.
A bit of patriotism mixed with a sad touch sets up a motif that stay's with
Chattaway thru the rest of his "future" scores of the 80's.

Track 2 - Jungle Battle and POW Flashback
One thing Hollywood has learnt from the "good old" James Bond movies is
that you have to start the movie with big action sequence and M.I.A is no exception.
And Chattaway knows how to score big with the audience.

Track 3 - Braddock's Enemy
This is the presentation of Braddock's main nemesis of the movie and
shows a flashback when Braddock is tortured as a P.O.W by General Vinh.
A menacing theme that send chills tru the spine.

Track 4 - Courtroom
Braddock is faced with a hostile Vietnamese goverment that tries to falsely
accuse him of war crimes and presents a couple of fake witnesses.
Braddock stares the witnesses right in the face as they bow their heads in
shame and one of them even apologies to Braddock.
The most powerful scene in the movie and Chattaway scores it effectively
mixed with seriousness and again sadness as Braddock says he understands
and does'nt blame them for lying.

Track 5 - Goons Follow Braddock
This track is just a simple suspence cue.

Track 6 - Hotel Escape
This is the track I missed the most from the old edel release.
Mislabeled as "Escape" Braddock sneaks out of his heavily guarded Hotel
in the middle of the night to get some answers in his own kind of way.
This is more a tight suspence filled track than action oriented untill
Braddock has to flee the scene of a murder of a general he has
questioned. Then the action heats up as he has to get back to his hotel
before he is missed by his vietnamese guards.
If you can sit tru the 8 minutes of sneaking around suspence you are
rewarded with the final 7 mins of the cue as Braddock has to climb up a
10 storie wall and then as a catburgular get from one roof to another by
a highwire, and during all this the vietnamese MP's are rushing to the
hotel to catch Braddock in the act.
Thanks guys for this exciting track.

Track 7 - The Cab
More of the Suspence ala Chattaway's MANIAC COP.

Track 8 - Tuck & Braddock
Suspence and the Main Theme comes to play in the end also.

Track 9 - Making The Deal
Suspence ala Chattaway's SILVER BULLET.

Track 10 - Closet Attack
An unused action-cue not featured in the final cut of the movie.
Later used in the Invasion U.S.A trailer.
Two words "Suspence and Action" i one minute. :D

Track 11 - Woman With Child
A touching track as General Vinh has fired a bazooka aimed at Braddock
and thus killing alot of innocent bystanders.
As Vinh puts it "Misfortunes of War".

Track 12 - Fight On The Boat
Again a synth stinger ala SILVER BULLET as General Vihn tries to
assassinate Braddock with an axe (Friday the 13th style).
Misfortunes of War, guess who says it this time. :D

Track 13 - Crossing To Nam
The Heart and Soul of the M.I.A score as Braddock sees the coast of the
Vietnamese jungle for the first time since he escaped from the POW camp.
A very, very, very sad track as Braddock has come full circle and as he
and Tuck realises that they may not make it, but they're gona die trying.

Track 14 - Jungle Fight and POW Camp
Synth suspence theme as our two heroes glide down the vietnamese river
heavily-armed in a bulletproof cevlar boat.
Braddock has to go thru booby-traps to get to the POW camp.

Track 15 - Camp At Night
Another "suspence sneak arond theme" as Braddock starts to plant
explosives to help him free the POW's.

Track 16 - Camp Explodes and POW's Are Moved
The most action Heavy cue of the score as Braddock "the One Man Army"
blasts thru the camp searching for those Missing In Action and only finds
Vietnamese prisoners and are informed that our guys have just been moved.
Love the way the track started "Pumping and Heroic" and then
turns to "we need a new plan".

Track 17 - Slow Motion Kill
Starts abit slow showing how our POW's are being treated by the "evil"
V.C. soldiers, but rest asured our heroes are on their way and when they
show up they are out manned and out gunned.
Every hero needs a "they think he's dead and then he makes a
triumphant return" scene and that you have at (2:45) in this track.
Works a bit better with the sound FX in the movie but I got goose bumps.

Track 18 - Boat Escape
It ain't over till it's over "80's or 70's slang" and the action cues keep on
coming as out guys have to bust out of the Vietnamese Jungle.
Theme in full force. Against all odds - Love It...

Track 19 - Saigon and End Credits
OK no more VC's to kill how do we end this puppy well rememberd?
Braddock and the POW's lands with the chopper in the middle of Saigon
square
And storms in to the building were the US senator & Vitnamese goverment
is having the final meeting on the subject of US troops Missing In Action.
A pumping theme that sets up the following End Credits.
The End Credits is a bit slower version of the sad Main Title Theme with a
more touch of pride than sadness.

The War's Not Over Until The Last Man Comes Home.
and Jay Chattaway along with an Impresive peresentation from INTRADA delivers.

This was a fun "re-living" of one of the main scores that got me the
soundtrack bug back in the 80's.
I cant thank the staff of INTRADA enough for bringing this score back into
the light of day in it's complete form.
This CD stands right beside INVASION USA & THE DELTA FORCE as my
favourite INTRADA releases and that's not because Chuck's on the cover
the music is great...

Looking forward to Braddock M.I.A 3

And as a sidenote:
Chuck Norris has alot to thank the composers of his movies for.
Without them his movies would'nt have been the box-office hit's they
were back in the glory days.

INTRADA keep those Norris scores coming.
THE OCTAGON, A FORCE OF ONE, FORCED VENGEANCE, SIDEKICKS.
don't let them rot in the company vaults.

Two Thumbs Up, WAY UP... :D

(Don't be scared of the amount of Suspence cues they vary and doesn't
just sound the same all over) if you like Chattaway's other scores.
SILVER BULLET, MANIAC COP, INVASION USA.
You'll love MISSING IN ACTION.

Freejack, thanks for the review. I'm slightly concerned about the amount of "Sneaking around" music in this score, but hey it's Chattaway and will be well worth the listen. :)

And being a follower of Intradas releases we got one of the greatest surprises for me that I never thought we would see released

This is music that to me gives something back more than just a listening experience.
It is music were you get the adrenalin to pump and the speakers to jump out of their sockets.
DiColas music is like a freighttrain hitting you hard and what a lovely hit it is :)
I first watched the movie on VHS when it came out 85-86 and if it wasnt fore DiColas music and Stallones directing (he did something here that he was way before Baywatch with and I call Rocky IV "the MTV Rocky")
The whole movie is like a long musicvideo with a pumping beat...
The Perfect mix with DiColas score and the songs Hearts on Fire, Burning Heart, No Easy Way Out etc are to perfection.

I would be so bald to state that Rocky IV was one of the soundtracks that got me interested in movies and moviemusic...

*Theme from Rocky
its fun to finally be able to listen to DiColas version of the Conti theme, but I prefere Conti and if this was to start the movie off, I understand why Sly choose Eye of the Tiger over this...fun listen thou...

*Gym
a funky track right from the 80´s for the sparring of Apollo and Rocky...
You can even hear "the rope from the ring" creaking in this from DiCola...

*Paulie´s Robot
Hightech from the 80´s with a computerized vocal *LOL*

*Anniversary
the most beautiful track on this CD which uses Contis theme again but with a great DiCola twist

*Dragos Suite
This track was the one I got the best surprise of...
Here is 3 tracks mixed into a suite and gives us the best listening experience by doing so...great stuff

*Apollo´s Death And Funeral
this track was on a B-side of the Living in America single, but finally we get to listen to it in a crisp sound and may I say it is POWERFUL

*Stairs
is a cue right before No Easy Way Out and is a quiet theme between Rocky and Adrian, nice scene that should have No Easy Way Out blasting away afterwards *L*

*Rock And Son
A prologue to Burning Heart when Rocky is having a talk with his son and then packing to leave for Russia. Also a beautiful theme and the calm before the storm...

*Training Montage
This is the ONE we all have been waiting for and here we finally have a mix that sounds WAYYYY better than the version we had on the song album...
I wonder how many Gym will have this blasting out in their speakers or people put this on their ipods/iphones when they gets out running :)

*Up the Mountain
To be honest, I would have loved to hear this one mixed up with Hearts on Fire, but this is the next best thing and it is awsome to listen to DiColas own version which is what this CD is all about.

*Pre-Fight
a little ditty and filler up that Im glad is here, but one of the tracks that doesnt give me much thou...

*Dragos Entrance
This is another of the great DiCola tracks I have missed , seeing the mighty Dolph Lundgren entering the ring to this menacing music...
Dosvedanja Rocky???

*War
This track is a mix that sounds more like the movieversion than the album version, but not 100% A great track thou that along with Training Montage will echo on the speakers in the gym :)

*Knockout
the title says it all and DiCola goes all orchestra :)...Intrada has released a knockout on us and I have never been happier for a release...

*Victory
Yes you can say that again...I do hope this will be a big seller for the label...

I can´t thank Intrada enough for this cd...
we got big titles like Back to the Future, Innerspace, Goonies and ID4, but non compare to ROCKY IV!!!!!!!!!!

The big boys showed us how to do it and I humbly kneel before you...

YO ADRIAN!
INTRADA DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
