This is not an uncommon dilemna. My suggestion is that since this is your personal and PRIVATE page, you can do whatever you are most comfortable with. If you had an INTRADA page, then I would suggest that you add everyone that wants to be included. Personal pages are just that - personal...and it is not a right for just everyone to be added just because they request it.

That being said, I have a few people on my friends list that I do not know personally, but they were kind enough to add me. Basically, it's up to you!

Now, I need to send you a friend request!

I am not on Facebook, but on , which is more of a business network. Anyway, almost all of the people there in my contacts I know personally, but there are a few I know just via , a few others I know only via the Internet. Which contacts do I accept? That's pretty easy: those that I feel good about. It's just a personal decision I make based on the contact request and the person. Why does he or she want to add me to the contact list? Do they like a posting of mine, is there a business connection, do we share a common interest, or is there anything else why they would want to be added as my contact? Standard "hi, please add me" contact requests which don't even appear to have anything to do with my person I just ignore. I can add or delete contacts at will.
(And if anybody here in this forum -- who shares the common interest of film music with me -- would be interested in joining my network, drop me a note and I'll invite you. That way, you'll get a premium month for nothing. )

Firstly, I don't have any such page, and don't want to, because I have never liked the few pages I have visited; they always look like a totally chaotic mess, with dozens and dozens of pointless notes left by "friends", and hardly anything on the person themselves (not the private life, but discography, filmography, whatever might be of true interest)-- but then, maybe I cannot see the interesting bits precisely because I am not even a member.

Secondly, to answer your question, Roger (I understand your dilemma), aybe you could add a note somewhere (at the top of the page? wherever it's possible and it can't be missed), explaining just what you said: that you thank people who are "Intrada fans" (so to speak) for their visit, or people who are interested in getting in touch with a composer through you, etc, but you would rather keep this a truly private, intimate group for close friends and family, and anyone interested in Intrada can visit this message board.
This might reduce the number of requests, and give a polite explanation which anyone should understand (if they don't, then they were not worthy of being added to the list).

I'll accept friend requests from people I don't know, but it's rare when it happens. For somebody like you, however, I can see how it would become a nuisance. Based on what you said you're hoping to get out of Facebook, I recommend ignoring requests from people you don't know. Otherwise, you will see Facebook's home page cluttered with updates from total strangers. Although there are ways to individually control the amount of information you get from certain people, it's a chore to manage if there are lots of people adding "noise" to your Facebook experience.

However, I strongly second valkyrie312's recommendation to start an Intrada Page on Facebook. People can "become a fan of Intrada" and see whatever information you choose to share there. You can post status updates like "The hamster wheel is spinning like crazy!" and maybe even share behind-the-scenes photographs inside Intrada's offices. Also, this would be a great way to publicize new releases. If you make an announcement, everybody gets notified.

BTW, I'm on Facebook (Jason Heiser, Minneapolis/St. Paul network) if anybody wants to connect with a fellow movie music collector and Intrada fan.
