Anyone remember this film from the late 80s? I never saw it (not many people did) as it was among the more infamous bombs of that decade. But I have often wondered what the score was like. From what I could tell it looked like a science fiction/action/comedy -- three genres at which Elmer Bernstein excelled. As I recall this was the film that caused a rift between Bill Cosby and David Puttnam during Puttnam's brief tenure at Columbia (and seeing that it was a Columbia picture I don't suppose a CD is likely anytime soon). |

I remember this came out at the height of Bill Cosby's '80s primetime juggernaut sitcom. My family and I made a point of collecting round the TV set at dinner time every Thursday night and Bill and the family never failed to make us laugh ourselves sore. So, here comes a movie starring Bill Cosby - no brainer, right? Wellllllll.... I remember, even at that tender age, thinking that the ideas behind all the gags were probably frightfully amusing at some point in the distant past but by the time they made their way into the film, something had happened to suck the mirth right out of each and every one of them. I've never revisited "Leonard" since to see if it's improved with age. I hazily remember the score playing it straight, but I couldn't call any of it to mind to save my life. |

There are some films that deserve to be forgotten and Leonard Part 6 is one of them. The score is really no good either... I'm the first guy that will always look for at least ONE thing that is redeeming about any and every film (usually the score is the only redeeming quality) but I could find nothing in Leonard Part 6 that merited such consideration, except perhaps the end credit roll signifying THE END!!!! There were so many incredibly talented people involved with the production of that movie and it's astounding that it could suck so bad, but it did. Ugh! |

I'm attaching the link here in case readers are interested: http://spectrumculture.com/2010/07/in-d ... art-6.html I also hope this site's admins will allow this posting, as I do believe readers of this forum would be interested in reading it. All comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks for your time. Eric |
