It's not so common these days that now that film scores are taken more seriously but in the early days of score CDs it was common to only get about half of the score actually used in the film. Below is a list of all truncated or messed-up CDs that I own. Please post your own CDs and we'll discuss the likelihood of them ever getting an expanded release. Predator 2 (Varese Sarabande-Incorrect track labels and alternate music with out any disclaimers) Die Hard 2 (Varese Sarabande-LOADS of good music missing) Armageddon (Sony Music-Less than half the score is on the CD) Broken Arrow (Milan-Completely out of order and loads missing) Commando (Varese Sarabande CD Club-My favorite track is missing) Under Siege 2 (Varese Sarabande-Less than half the score is on the CD) Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (A&M Records-Loads of score missing) Out For Justice (Varese Sarabande-Loads of score missing) Looney Tunes: Back in Action (Varese Sarabande-Loads of score missing) Gremlins 2 (Varese Sarabande-Loads of score missing) Die Hard With A Vengeance (RCA-The worst score in my collection. An absolute train-wreck of a CD with incorrect music and track listings and terrible cover art) Freddy vs Jason (Varese Sarabande-Some score missing and alternate tracks without disclaimer) Con Air (Hollywood Records-Loads of score missing and alternate tracks used) ![]() |

Staying with truncated CDs: Robocop 3, Hook, The Mummy Returns. All missing loads of stuff. |

"Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" Only missing about 6:28 minutesof score (not counting the "previously on" montage that had some original music, that wasn't used in the American showing). All-in-all about less than 8mins of score, yet it was left off. "Star Trek: First Contact" Missing over half it's score, including the lengthy Flight of and Pehonix and death of the Borg Queen piece. And even though we got a much expanded "Dances With Wolves", it still isn't complete (despite what the sticker says). It watched it on TV one time and heard some cues not on it, that I'd love to have. Of course truncated CDs back then weren't really much of a choice, it was up tro reuse fees, and then -- like now -- sometimes a CD is assembled before the entire score is even done recording. |
