Mancini did lean toward the more popular side of music for good reason. RCA wanted to sell LP's and a lot of them. I highly doubt that one of his best soundtracks that we appreciate here on THIS FORUM was Experiment In Terror. On the other hand, Breakfast At Tiffany's was an excellent seller I'm sure. For those of you who read a lot of this material that don't know Johnny Williams (at the time) played piano for Henry and learned his craft really well. But Mancini got me started with my very first soundtrack so to speak with Peter Gunn in 1959. I think Williams played on that album. No I didn't start with the 78's of Jungle Book . I am old but not that old. Tom |
