I'm listening to JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS published under the prestigious Excalibur Collection. I'm still amazed how incredible is the quality of this re-recording ! If rights to some orchestral* soundtracks are tied or locked for decades (Universal ...), or too expansive, why not re-record them ? For example, Jerry Goldsmith's THE WIND & THE LION could be re-record with the Sinfonia of London under the prestigious batton of Mr Bruce Broughton. So Intrada gentlemen, I wonder if there are other re-recordings planed... ? Yes or no would be enough... And would you be interest in, members of the fellowship of the scores ? * = I don't think it could be a good thing to re-record some electronic+orchestral scores like GREMLINS because listeners are loving what they have heard for years (yes, only 15 min on the Geffen CD - a shame !) and unless find the same equipement mixed at the same level, there will always be people blaming about that... IMO. |

I have to say that the Excalibur discs I have are some of my favorite re-recordings. I am always hoping for the next edition... perhaps a Mysterious Island...? Even though I have the FSM release of the original tracks of Julius Caesar, I still listen most often to Broughton's recording because I think the performance is so spirited. Plus it sounds great. |
