Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat - RICHARD STONE

-Great score, bad movie...

Actually, I admit that I like this movie. It is, after all, one of the best western/vampire movies made...

Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time - ROBERT FOLK

-Inspired and entertaining score written for an awful motion picture (in my humble opinion). Intrada's release of this score is very nice!

Exorcist II: The Heretic - ENNIO MORRICONE

-Ridiculous sequel, great score!

One comes to my mind right away: The Final Conflict.

Simply god(hehehe)-awful hogwash with a majestic musical score. Cannot think of any movie where the discrepancy between the quality of the movie as such and its accompanying musical score was wider. Sure, they may be a lot of worse movies floating out there, but few if any of those come with such a grand and accomplished film score. The only reason to watch the movie, the only thing that keeps it watchable at all, is the music.
I'd have to think which movies I'd place in second and third place, but The Final Conflict gets my top vote.

Actually, the original "Beastmaster" was not that great of a movie in my opinion. Got a little tired of the comical ferrets. Tanya Roberts was nice to look at, but couldn't act. Holdridge's score, especially the hero's theme, is a favorite of mine.

Some of my picks (Lost in Space, Supergirl, American Anthem, Mac And Me, Super Mario Bros.) have already been mentioned, but to add to the list:

The Swarm. It always amused me that the LP's liner notes had Goldsmith proclaim this "a hell of a film!" I can certainly believe his opinion would include the word "hell," but...

Lionheart. Makes First Knight seem like a masterpiece, but what a score.

Medicine Man (but only in the movie, not so fond of it by itself).

Mom And Dad Save The World... you know, we could just fill this thread with Jerry Goldsmith movies and be done with it.

Both xXx movies were awful - it'll be no great loss to mankind when Revolution Studios ceases to exist next year - but Randy Edelman turned in one of his best scores for the former and Marco Beltrami did an overall better job on the latter than on Red Eye.

The Village was a boring ripoff of The Twilight Zone's "A Hundred Yards Over The Rim," but James Newton Howard was not at fault. (Apparently you need to be called Howard to emerge from this movie with any credit - Bryce Dallas Howard was a plus as well.)

Mission: Impossible. Danny Elfman was one of the few people involved with the first movie who seemed to get the point.

The Avengers. True, Joel McNeely based his score around the wrong version of Laurie Johnson's theme (he used the faster Tara King-era arrangement), but apart from that...
