I don't favor the idea of a subscription because releases should be treated and assessed individually. While there might be many releases I would order, there could also be some I wouldn't, whether for taste or for the expense. The subscriber's club would benefit those who have been missing out on quick-selling releases I suppose, but I think it would punish a lot of other people by requiring them to subscribe. Like many hobbies or interests of this sort, it would appear that this is a "every man for himself" game. With dealers, speculators, high prices once an item becomes rare, etc., it seems to me that pleasing the whole is really not possible. Everybody wants to get their favorite films scores, and I think it's up to the private collectors who are only interested in the music for themselves (like me) and have no interest in the controversy that surrounds the subject, to simply do their best to snatch up the releases they want, and hope they don't miss some cool stuff. Too many restrictions on anything is not necessarily a good thing. |

i just feel like a "subscription" is totally unnecessary extra work for Intrada. If people already know that they want everything, then they can make arrangements with their favorite retailer the day of release before the title's even announced, since it doesn't even matter to them whats going to be announced. |

I don't really understand how one can be against subscriptions per se, except for Intrada. If subscriptions mean for Intrada a lot more overhead, in addition to the fact that some people may subscibe and then send back every other disc, I can understand from their point of view not to do it. I don't think I'd wanna deal with that, either. We'd all want them to produce fine CDs instead of exhausting the hamsters. But I know there are some people out there who collect, and they want to have every special release. Those could really benefit from a subscription. For the others, nothing would change: you could still choose and order those releases you wanted. |
