Two of the hardest working men in movie-scoring biz and so little of their work is available in recorded form. The FLY TRILOGY is excellent by the way and I was glad to see the music for those movies get the royal treatment Percepto Records gave it. I would love to see someone record IT, THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE, although the main title is basically a reworking of KRONOS from the previous year. Someone recorded an album of KRONOS in 1984 I believe. I like the music of Ronald Stein and Percepto's recording of DINOSAURUS is excellent and in 1996 or 97 Varese Sarabande recorded a CD of various music Stein did for movies like NOT OF THIS EARTH and THE TERROR. Best part however is the theme for SPIDER BABY sung by Lon Chaney, Jr. It includes him rehearsing it as well and it's great. I'm glad Monstrous Movie Music is recording the Ralph Carmichael score for THE BLOB. I can't wait!

A few weeks ago, David Schecter from MMM said that he have the tapes for IT and one of Sawtell´s Tarzan-scores from RKO!

I hope he releases them as part of MMM. I have wanted a soundtrack to IT, THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE since I first saw it 22 years ago.

I guess I should make a contribution to this long-legged thread. Does anyone else recall or remember a movie from 1957, The Pride And The Passion (Dir. Stanley Kramer,w/Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant, Sophia Loren) ? To the best of my knowledge, this was the only "A" list movie scored by George Antheil: and a very evocative "A" list score. I haven't heard the score for over 25 years, but I really remember it as being much more worthy than the film it was attached to. Antheil died in 1959, having contributed a tremendous amount of "stock" music to a lot of "B' pictures over the years. The film was released by UA and there was a soundtrack album issued at the time. I wonder who has the rights to it at this point? Would like to know if anyone else remembers this score.
And one more thing. Billy Goldenberg. This guy has over 200 entries
on the IMDb and virtually nothing in general release. That is pretty sad. He surely deserves more recognition, and I hope that recognition will be forthcoming in the next few years.

He's about as prolific as Gil Melle and you are right, I am not sure out of all his scores that any of them have been recorded. That's a shame.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Cloud Nine release of The Pride And The Passion, Chris. That release went totally unnoticed by me, and I have to hope it was somewhere between 98 & 2001 (was a bit involved in a major business/agricultural project then, and kind of let my "hobby" slack off a bit) Is it in mono or stereo? It's nice to know that several others are familiar with this. I shall try to find a copy.
Btw, I am sure this has been posted here or on the FSM board before, but George Antheil and Hedy Lamarr (yes THAT Hedy Lamarr!) were responsible for filing a co-patent on an idea that would keep the German navy from jamming our torpedo guidance technology during WWII. The patent that they filed would become the basis of our modern Spread-spectrum technology......or the modern cell phone, as we know it. A great answer to a Jeopardy question, just in case you are sitting there and Alex Trebeck happens to ask it
