I still listen to a lot of music on LP. Some of them have never been issued on CD (Elmer Bernstein's Heavy Metal, Loek Dikker's The Fourth Man), others have CD transfers that are not as sonically satisfying as the LPs (John Williams' Dracula, Miklós Rózsa's El Cid, any Beatles album). Most of my vinyl is clean and in excellent condition, so I don't have too much in the way of snap, crackles or pops. One of the best things about being a collector of film music LPs is that used copies were often bought as a souvenier of the film and only played once or twice. So many of them are in really good condition when you hunt about for them. |

I more or less found that souvenir theory to be true, in fact I have found a few that were never played. I recently picked up a brand new copy of "The Big Country" still sealed and when I played it to transfer it to lp found it to be brand new. Tom ![]() |
