tjguitar, you should have been around in the days of vinyl! If you think it's hard to find oop soundtracks in the days of the internet, you're sadly mistaken. When I began collecting soundtracks, there were lists to go over by mail-order companies, record stores and used goods stores to poke around in, garage sales and swap meets to attend, and then the grand daddy of them all- the record convention. All in the hopes of nabbing the elusive (at the time) soundtracks to Raintree County, 7th Voyage of Sinbad or Taras Bulba in stereo. So it really doesn't matter where you start in this hobby. When collecting soundtracks, you'll find yourself constantly working backwards to find what you've missed and working in the present in choosing which of the latest releases to pick up. If I can offer any advice, I'd just say when something you really want comes around and if you're able to get it, don't hesitate. Soundtrack collections are built this way. |

I wont pay big bucks for a rarity. I have discovered that many oop/htf titles turn up in used bins. Take the time to regularly check in at your neighborhood cd store, if you have one. Here are titles I have found for UNDER ten dollars: THE POSEDION ADVENTURE - FSM THE EXORCIST & ENTER THE DRAGON - WB home Video CONAN THE BARBARIAN expanded DRACULA - John Williams ZULU - John Barry EMPIRE STRIKES BACK - Varese JFK NIXON SOLARIS - Martinez keep hope alive! |
