I completely agree. While I respect and like Harline well enough (and would buy more releases of his music), I have a much higher opinion of Friedhofer as a film composer, and tend to like his scores much better. I think Warlock makes for a better cover though. It's cool to see it on the main page right next to the excellent Silverado cover -- westerns past and well, not present but at least not-so-past.
Friedhofer's score to Broken Arrow is one of my favorites so if there are any other Friedhofer westerns waiting to be released like maybe his score to White Feather, his personal favorite of his westerns written 5 years after Broken Arrow and somewhat influenced by it. If it survives it may sound even better than Broken Arrow (which to my ears sounds pretty good for something over half a century old...and good in comparison to, say, The Flame and the Arrow) because it was a CinemaScope film.
I say, hoof it on the Friedhofer and some more Harline would be fine.
FSM did some great releases including The Bravados, a great stark western score co-written with Alfred Newman, my favorite Golden Age composer, but since they don't have the access to the Fox vaults any more the responsibility rests on the wonderful Intrada fellows...good thing they're stepping up their releases. Bravo!
