For me, it's the one score you'd like to hear on CD above everything else. I'm lucky...virtually all of my best-loved scores already are on CD. For at least twenty years, it had been Fantastic Voyage. Now it's been released. Anna and the King of Siam was the next one. Ditto. Then it was Capricorn One. Thank you, Intrada! |

Nice words Doug, thanks to you... I have very few holy grails, and I must say it's largely because you made them become actual CDs on my shelves... For me a holy grail is from a movie I cherish with all my heart containing an outrageously unreleased awesome score : BTTF, Gremlins, Goonies, etc. The usual.

For me the Holy Grail is Tiomkin´s High Noon. I always enjoyed watching movies on TV and on the silver screen. But when I first saw this picture in the mid 70s (whereas my friends were mostly interested in contemporary movies that time) it generated an increased interest in movies before and behind the camera - but what is more important Tiomkin´s music awoke my film score affinity. In short it´s like your first love - you´ll never forget it. Don´t know if the elements of that score still exist, but a CD of this music would be the crown on my collection. |
