Hello all. Now that the film POLTERGEIST has been reissued on DVD with absolutely pristine sound and picture quality (wow!), I wonder if there will be a new CD to go along with it? Surely this score, being one of Goldsmith's top ten best, deserves to be in print? The 1997 CD was a dream come true, and I have probably played that disc a thousand times in the past ten years. But I find parts of the CD play with noticeable hiss ("Contacting the Other Side"). Plus this CD is outta print! (Why is beyond me, I mean come on!!) The DVD contained nothing remarkable in the special features department, but the soundtrack sounded very polished. It would be great to hear the music in remastered sound on CD. I have a hunch that Varese Sarabande will add this one to their catalogue. |

Thanks for the info. I didn't know a new DVD had been released. I own the poor original DVD, with moderate picture/sound quality, but containing an editing glitch in the middle of the film (the remote control sequence). I'm happy they restored it since this is one of my top movies of all times ! I can't get enough with it ! Of course the soundtrack deserves such a treatment ! But the MGM release is still too recent I guess... |
