Kind of thrown by Doug's description of David Newman as "an active veteran" (?) Like myself, Mr Newman was born in the mid-fifties, if I'm not mistaken. Hardly makes him a veteran. Active... maybe. - JMM |

I think by veteran, Doug implies how long one has been composing film scores. In David Newman's case, its over 20 years. The use of "veteran" may confuse because it is best known to represent retired military, thus the word retired psychologically pops up when it really shouldn't. or it really makes you feel old and it shouldn't do that either. Perhaps a more preferable word would be experienced, but that just sounds like lazy writing. ![]() |
