I've only recently discovered Carter Burwell's absolutely mesmerizing score for this quirky Nicole Kidman vehicle.
Carter Burwell fashions a truly haunting score with only 20 musicians. He blends wisps of late fifties cool jazz, with his usually inventive grasp of percussions instruments. String quartet and celeste also adds sensuous colors. And, other moments sound like the distinguished Erik Satie wandered and got lost inside Diane Arbus territory.
Anyone else enraptured with this one? Mr. Burwell really knows how to make the best use of small ensembles. This is filmmusic at its most original and exotic.
Movie's also very good...
