Doug, have you ever tried to get the rights to the soundtrack recordings made for 1981's ZORRO, THE GAY BLADE? It's the most extensive modern stereo recording of Max Steiner's wonderful music to Warner's 1948 Errol Flynn romp, THE ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN (my favorite Steiner score) and, in about two years the AF of M re-use fees will be reduced by the twenty-seven-year rule to the point where labels like Intrada can made a financial go of it. If you haven't given it any thought, please do! |

Yes, I would love to see a CD release of Zorro - The Gay Blade myself. But let's also give Ian Frasier a little credit as well, he was the man who adapted Steiner's Don Juan score. Steiner's score is very superbly performed, but by an, albeit, slightly smaller ensemble. Still, there is the spirit of the thing. "I know you will not kill an innocent man... or me either, for that matter." |
