Though totally dated and commercially rooted in the "80's sound, Faltemeyer's scores during this period were not only hugely influential, but successful as well, for both the films and the prospective soundtrack albums that featured even a smidgin of his score. Maybe I just don't get it, but it seemed like a no brainer that he should have gotten at least his BEVERLY HILLS COP scores released, given their popularity on the radio charts and the many awards that "AXLE F" won ( though FLETCH is my personal favorite). I know the horror stories surrounding Paramount and their desire to not release film scores, but how much trouble could there have been to produced the soundtrack of pretty much one guy and his keyboard stylings? Can we argue musician union re-use fees having gotten in the way? Duh!!! I'm with anyone who wants to get these scores out and would LOVE to finally have them in my film music library. (If I saw a full FLETCH score I'd about pass right the frick out!!!) Bring 'em on! ~ Scorehead |

hahahaha... pass the frick out! I love that one. I'm totally with you though.. I'm glad you guys all brought up Fletch. I totally forgot that one even though I have the CD and it's one of my favorite soundtracks. When Beverly Hills Cop 2 was released, a 45 rpm release of a single by The Jets from the film was released and accompanied by a score cue on the B-side of the disc. I think the track was called "Bad Guys" and it was similiar in sound to "Axel F" but was more score-oriented rather than dance. Do any of you guys remember that? Anyway, I know Paramount is a pain-in-the-butt with score releases but man, there HAS to be a way to get those knuckle heads to wisen up.... Time will tell |
