Doug, where have your capsule reviews gone? I used to enjoy reading your comments regarding upcoming and newly released scores. For anyone unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, these capsule comments would appear in his Grand Poobah column. As of late, you've been pretty silent on new releases.

So, in order to prompt some discussion, what say you (or anyone else, for that matter) about the new RAI Trade Morricone soundtracks just issued? Compared to La Piovra, how do these stack up? I'm speaking specifically about Giovanni Falcone, Missus, and ...Corleonesi.

I find it refreshing to read Doug's comments, since he brings a certain educated attitude that some other reviewers sorely lack.

Doug's been doing capsule reviews... they're just generally shorter than they used to be. He did a couple for "Falcone" and "Missus". But I agree with you, Doug's capsule reviews are excellent, I enjoy reading his thoughts on everything.

While we're all making suggestions, I'd love to see you revive the monthly review you used to do in your column, Doug... picking out a different cd each month and putting it in the spotlight. I've really enjoyed reading some of your old ones.

C'mon, it's not like you have anything else to do over there! :wink:

I really miss some of the great in-depth Doug's Corner articles on specific scores. Even for decent but less-than-classic scores. I remember an article on Perfect Storm that made me appreciate the score more.
