Actually, do you have a chronological list of Intrada's releases-- a list of this year's releases would do for this thread.

I always have a hard time answering those yearly polls because I can't exactly remember every date of release-- also, "university years" & civil do easily tend to get mixed up.
Answering implies that I go through my orders...

Feb 9: Bruce Broughton's -- I love it; it's a very very nice little score; fresh & varied; this is surely my favorite Intrada release of the year.
Frank DeVol's is very close to a tie-- and I need to make a copy with the songs out (keeping the end credits), especially the screaming kids.

I have also gotten & enjoyed (March 5), (May 7), (June 24), (July 1), (Aug 4).
The only one I wasn't tempted by was Rosenthal's -- only half tempted, not enough for ordering it promptly. I did promptly order his , though; it sounded really nice.

That's for the special, limited releases.

Re-issue-wise, I haven't received it yet, but the reissue will certainly be right at the top as well; it goes without thinking can only be with it at the top.
Was re-released this year? I still haven't ordered it.

Fantastic Four is a very fine score filled with complex and interesting action music and a main theme, which although does sound weak initially, improves with every repetition and variation as it's developed over the course of the score. It was definately one of the year's best alongside War of the Worlds and more recently Memoirs of a Geisha.

At the other end of the scale, The Island was without doubt the year's greatest abomination!


I have to say it's a little sad to see a year go by without a single new score from either Elliot Goldenthal, Carter Burwell, Don Davis or Alan Silvestri.

I think this year was a little weak, there's no any great score, even John Williams with your conventional "Memoirs of a Geisha" was a little disappointment to me, also disappointment to me was KING KONG by James Newton Howard, I don't know if he had so little time to do that, but the score is just an accompaniment, there's no a big theme or great action theme and I also think that he wrong the thematic way, in fact the better moment in whole movie about the score is when on the Theater plays Max Steiner's original music, I think that would be a better idea an adaptation of exceptional score o Max Steiner for this new movie, I liked of "HARRY POTTER AND THE GLOBET OF FIRE" by Patrick Doyle

2005 was a weak year, I bought more re-issues of older scores than recent releases.
My days of buying blindly are over,I need to hear before I buy.
