Zodiac - David Shire

I picked up the CD this morning at Zia records and boy, it's just terrific.

It's really the first score this year that had me rushing out to get it. The film is excellent as well, it'll certainly be on my "year's best" list.

I love "Graysmith's Theme" -- very much a granchild piece to his work on "The Conversation". Also the dark string work is excellent and hypnotic, much like what Howard Shore did on "Se7en".

Any thoughts on the score/film?

I'm so jealous living in Muncie Indiana, new soundtracks that come out on tuesday are no where to be find. If a major motion picture soundtrack comes out to a popular film with music from an inspired, they will have 20 copies, or if all the artists on the CD are african american, they will have 20 copies, score CD's nothing. Makes me very sad, i call and they say no, and let me check, yah, we won't be carrying that, you can order it through our website, well if I wanted to do that, I would have DONE IT ALREADY.

and I understand the most popular sells and thats what it comes down to.

creepy scene, the scene by the lake with the 2 people that get tied up, I must say when they were on their backs and he does his thing, that was VERY creepy and very unverving I must say, the whole time I felt like I was getting what was done to them, i kept squirming, I hope I didn't give away too much, just wanted to add that.

mankind77, saw your myspace page, were the same age and similar professions, film and such, hey I'm looking for some simple lights for filming, can you give me a good website that is decent and has a nice selection, I just need just a few for simple interviews, one behind and two on each side. Thanks

I hope (fingers crossed) "Zodiac" gets Shire more work. One or two new scores released by him per year I would gladly welcome

There's a cool easter egg at the end of the CD by the way, neat!

I think I need to see the film in order to appreciate the score. The score at the moment isn't knocking me out.

Glad to hear that, Doug. Keep the Shire reissues coming. Hindenburg was a treat. I'd like to have Streets Of Loredo or a compilation of the Sarah, Plain And Tall films someday too.
