Bring it on, Roger. Alan, who has championed the music of Miklos Rozsa for years and years, is one of my oldest and dearest friends. Be nice to see and hear him on the web... - JMM |

Post subject: | Hungarian Sketches in Budapest. |
Hi all, Just to advise that the Rozsa Centenary Concert in Budapest last Sunday (18th March)-went really well; the 3 Hungarian Sketches and a splendid performance of the Viola Concerto (soloist Gilad Karni)-were followed by the BEN-HUR and QUO VADIS Suites, complete with a pretty good film scene back projection. Conductor Tamas Pal was highly competent. It concluded a memorable day, mostly in the company of Juliet Rozsa and two of her daughters, plus John Fitzpatrick and other MR devotees. We all went walkabout to see Rozsa's place of birth in the city, as well as his high school nearby. An after-concert dinner finished up proceedings to perfection, with the celebratory wine flowing to the early hours of the morning! Pity I couldn't have met up with more of you, but I can reassure you all that this was a truly exceptional Centenary Tribute to the Hungarian born Maestro - in his home town! Some photos and a video are available on the Rozsa Forum, FYI. |
