Post subject: | Old Varese club cds... |
Hi folks, I know very well that this kind of question has been made many times in the years but i have never received a proper answer.i am talking about unnumbered cd club of '90 which some collector(i am one of them!)has in their hands! Many people says those are bootlleg, many confirm the contrary! For example i have CHERRY2000 VCL 8903.1 unnumbered with only a little sign inside the little white box.Varese staff often said that they're fake copies, but i am confused! This cd is perfect!!!The kind of paper and the booklet is the same used by varese in that years(compared with others numbered i have obviously). The cd is perfect from every point of view!...and so on... Anyway this would be a boot! ![]() I'd like to know something more details or opinion about that.....only curiosity! thank you very much! CIAO ![]() Ric |

I have a RAGGEDY MAN (Jerry Goldsmith) which is not numbered. I got it not long after the title was released. This was before pressed CD bootlegs were even being seen. I have yet to hear of anyone having a RAGGEDY MAN bootleg (exactlylike the Varese Club CD). On the other hand CHERRY 2000 was bootlegged to look just like the Varese Club CD. |

Post subject: | AFRICA Prometheus |
I would look at the compact disc itself. Does it have a pressing number ? Is it an aluminium disc etc. Those checks I thought would confirm a bootleg status, but others may know better ? I have Africa by Alex North on Prometheus label (PCR 509) it's a limited release. However the number of this print is not published nexted to the limited number (2000). The disc is a aluminium type with PCR 509 P+O etc. recorded on the inner circle. Maybe I have a counterfeit, but it looks highly unlikely? |

Altough this is not connected to Varese Clubs it is a very similar problem... Does anyone have an idea why Cinefonia's TESTAMENT CD was not pressed like all others? If they were really convinced they are releasing a CD authorized by its rights holders. I doubt Cinefonia would start releasing bootleg CDs... |

I have an un-numbered "Amerika" by Poledouris and I seem to remember someone mentioning that un-numbered discs were Similar to promotional copies, where they were not counted against the end run. I am not sure about this, but that is the info that I was told. My pressed copy was sealed when I received it and I bought it from a private dealer (although they are well-known and respected in the score collecting community). Hope this helps. |

Hi Rambo In the innercircle of the Raggedy Man disk, it says, VCL-9101-7 1S MFD BY JVC Check your edition, to see if it also contains this information. I don't think bootlegers can copy this kind of stuff. Dex, p.s. My Raggedy Man number is 785 ( of 1500) |
