So this thread finally makes me register
Personally speaking when I listen to a score I don't give two hoots about the film. The majority of scores in my collection are from films I have never and probably will never see. I don't listen to the music to recreate the film (surely the easiest way is just to watch it), but to enjoy the music.
When I listen to a score - I just want the best listening experience from the beginning to the end of the disc. In most instances Intrada have done this (owning both Predators I have to say that I prefer the first limited release), and again, personally, I prefer 1x5min track than 5x1min tracks. I like listening to and getting involved with the music and I find that lots of short cues often just aren't that engaging.
But that's just my personal preference. Maybe because I came to film scores from a music background rather than a film background I don't know. I do know that it's not an opinion shared by many however (or at least many of the more active posters).
At the end of the day however I'm just glad to be getting all this great music however it's presented, although I do like Intrada's presentations as more thought seems to go into getting the best listening experience out of the music.
All I do know is that however it's presented - YSH will be ordered as soon as it's released. It's a score I have wanted for a very long time and for many, many years it looked like it would never be possible. Now, here we are, possibly mere months away from it being release.
Great times.
