There is a band titled "All I need to do is take a bite of your Apple?" that is on the 1966 album re-recording of OUR MAN FLINT that came out when the movie was released that is not on the original soundtrack Varese issued in the 90's. It's just a nice, melodic theme that I've always been enamored of. I still the Stereo lp with the great Bob Peak ad art.

I've always preferred the album re-recording of this score!

Someone posted on the FSM Message board how they rediscovered
Jerry Goldsmith's MEDICINE MAN. It is interesting with as many Goldsmith
expanded scores that are being released that people are going back to
rediscover some of his other works. I have never put any of his scores
away. Bad Goldsmith score, there is none!! I think that what some
people call a so-so Goldsmith score runs ring around anything that is
being composed for today's films with a few exceptions (Williams, Horner,
Giacchino, Powell, Debney and a few others come first to mind).

Remote Control has a few score here and there, but I would choose a
Mr. Baseball or Link, over most any of them. As I said in another thread,
I am very thankful for the labels who are releasing the extended Goldsmith
scores, so I can hear new Goldsmith that I have not heard before in CD form.

A guilty pleasure track is, Your Zowie Face, from the album of In Like Flint. It's so daft & so 60's, it always brings a smile to my face, but even so, it fades out on that elegent flute tune, well we are talking Mr. JG.

I have to agree here with Freejack...The Explorers score is week and a score I almost never listen to as it gives me nothing in return...Hell even loathed Goldsmith scores like Runaway or Warlock are more enjoyable...
Goldmiths best??
I have to say some of his 80s score like First Blood/Rambo or his Total Recall and Ghost and the Darkness...

The Explorers is trash (OK there I said it...tear me apart *LOL*)

I guess I feel guilty about loving these pieces because they probably don't count as "real" Jerry, for one reason or the other, since they are mostly songs or source cues...

1 Nights Are Forever - TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE
2 The Rec Room - OUTLAND
3 Love Theme from Coma - COMA
4 It's a Long Road - FIRST BLOOD
5 Kay's Theme - CAPRICORN ONE

Each of them has a slightly schlocky aspect of trying to make a Jerry album into a pop record, but I love every single one of these pieces.

I suppose one could count the entirety of LINK, but, specifically, I'll go for "Bravo Link".

The main theme gets slowed down to an interesting degree, then at 1:04, the pitch lowers and strings come in, giving the track a creepy feel...then triumphant horns at 1:33...then scritchy staccato strings at 2:08 and what sounds like synth harmonica for a little bit at 3:06, before the main theme finishes off the cue.

Mr. Baseball (1992) - I tend to be shy about mentioning this one because it seems to get immediately lampooned as cheesy, etc. Sorry, but I think it's a great score with pep and excitement, and the love theme is extraordinarily beautiful. I will always fondly remember how Siskel & Ebert raved about how much fun the score was.

Fierce Creatures (1997) - I mention this one not because it's a guilty pleasure, but simply because it doesn't get enough love and it's really a gem.

Mom & Dad Save the World (1992) - What's not to love here? I mean really. This is wacky good fun!

Rent-A-Cop (1988) - Admit you like Rent-A-Cop and you'd think you had admitted you're an ex-leper.

The Rec Room from Outland (1981) - I don't care what you think. I dig this cue and I can play it endlessly. The new version on FSM's release that includes weird breathing noises...meh. That one I can do without. So glad they included the original version. And for the record, I far prefer Goldsmith's source music in Outland over Boddicker's. Sue me. No really. Go ahead and sue me. :P
