Deep Rising is an instant purchase for me, not having any incarnation of this release before is a real treat.
Thank you Doug, Roger & Bruce for another great Goldsmith gem. Your efforts are very much appreciated
I'm also intrigued to what the Excalibur release could be :D

I have championed Goldsmith's score for DEEP RISING since it originally came out. It is an extremely strong thirty minutes on album, or, perhaps better worded, it's a kick-ass score.

It's been a long time since I've seen the movie so I don't know exactly if this needs an expansion or will play better in an extended version as the tight thirty minute album that came out when the film was released. I am, however, perfectly curious to find out. Also, this score has been unavailable for a long time, so that alone should suffice as a reason for a new release. Let alone the high standard of Intrada releases (the original release had practically no liner notes at all).

Because of this thought of Douglas Fake is that we have been fortunate to have available the impossible of to imagine that one day would be produced. We need all that Intrada can to brings for us, there are tastes for everything! Even though I'm a tremendous admirer of Maurice Jarre work just have to thank the Intrada, because thanks to that thought brought things that would be virtually impossible to be made available, things without much commercial appeal but that for me were sensational. And the coolest thing of all is that Intrada label no have prejudice with any composer, brings all sorts of composer and of any period. For me undoubtedly the best record company of all. (sorry for my english)

Well, some people over at FSM wants expanded Ghost and the darkness more than expanded Deep Rising. Well for me it is rather vice versa.

I just love these junk-food Goldsmith scores like Deep Rising. I've probably played Link more than any one Goldsmith soundtrack in the last couple of years since Intrada re-released it (I so wish it could still be available for people), just cause it's so much fun. And Deep Rising is a great companion with Leviathan, his 10-years-earlier version of the same kind of thing, just darker toned.

These scores are a hoot! And though I agree that the original album for Deep Rising is a great, punchy listen, there's just no question about picking up the expansion. Must have.

I love that it's coming with a new Excalibur - delighted that you all are continuing what for me still remains the pre-eminent series of re-recordings. And a new Rozsa, it seems! That sure ups the tone of the release week, and a lovely pairing of the apparently sacred and profane.

Even-more-personal note: Ivanhoe - my favorite re-recording and Rozsa score ever - came out when I was spending a lot of time with my mom who was dying of cancer (in her mid-fifties). I've just realized that the score albums I listened to most during those three years when I stayed with my mom were Ivanhoe and Intrada's first release of Rambo III. They helped me get through some tough times and helped me fall in love with movie music all over again. And here it looks like you're releasing another double feature of my two favorite gents! What a pleasure it is to share this story in your living room.

Doug, Roger, Jeff, George, Mark, Joe, Regina, Kerry, and anyone else I may have missed at Intrada,

THANK YOU.

You all put out a quality product and do your best to insure that we (the film music appreciation fans/collectors/geeks) are able to enjoy a wide variety of music from a long list of great composers.

I just wanted you all to know you're appreciated and that there are some of us who support you and your work. I am sure it isn't an easy task to put all these wonderful releases together. And while you can't please everyone 100% of the time with your projects, you do an amazing job with each one nonetheless.

Keep up the fantastic work and I look forward to your new titles next week.

James

DEEP RISING may not be an album for everyone, but i think JWB could have put it in better words and not just write "Did we really need more Deep Rising?" it's just plain ungratefulness. :(

But rest assured... JWB has been punished with great vengeance and furious anger.

Looking forward to hearing the DEEP RISING Main Title Intrada Style... :D
