This arrived and I played it tonight after living through a peculiarly shitty day, but it helped take some of the edge off. It sounds great! Simply vintage Jerry.

My copy arrived yesterday and I am thoroughly enjoying this early Goldsmith gem. It plays much more like a real soundtrack listening experience, what with the improved dynamics and clarity and being in complete film order. ( The old "unmentionable" will stay on the shelf only for the inclusion of THE GENERAL WITH THE COCK-EYED ID.)

Thanks to all the Intrada hamsters for offering up an ultimate edition of this buried treasure.

Well guys, I just ordered this baby directly from Intrada, I cut out the middle man.

Had this one arrive today and thoroughly enjoyed the first play. The recording is in very good condition considering age and even in mono manages to make Goldsmith's score quite dynamic, with the various percussion proving very detailed. It also plays very well. I have bad memories of the awful boot and hated the repitition and quality of that disc and wrote off this early Goldsmith effort. But hearing it properly now it plays very well and sounds a lot more modern than I remembered. Well done for this superb release and excellent notes too. A great read as always.

I just saw this on dvd, and loved that score.

I'm certainly glad I got my Intrada disc before it went out of print.

The trumpet is indeed such a beautifully infectious instrument, isn't it? So many great composers have effectively featured it as a leading solo in rather wonderful ways over the years. Mark Isham and Christopher Young both come to mind with this type of work. And of course Jerry was always a powerful force behind it, as well. A true master at giving way to a variety of stunning soloists.
