Any chance we can get an idea of how fast this is moving? There's been speculation on the FSM board but I am hoping that I can hold out for just a few days to get some breathing room as I definitely wanna grab this.

Info taken from the Cliffhanger CD page:

Intrada release offers complete 92-minute masterpiece, newly remixed from actual 48-track digital session masters courtesy StudioCanal! Dynamic elements included scoring sessions on 24 tracks, 7.1 film mixes on 8 more tracks, channels for left, center & right recording studio ambience, 3 channels for additional electronic colors plus stereo mixes of cues used on earlier album: an incredible array of mixing options all contained within those 40-odd channels! Intrada was able to re-create instrument placement, spread of original mixes while creating crisp, all-new mixes for our final CD masters!

Man, I can't wait to put the CD in the player and crank up the volume as far as the neighbors can take it, and go on a journey of epic proportions.

Ordered this without hesitation! Heck, I didn't even read the product description -- "expanded" was all I needed to hear!

Trevor Jones' name has sadly been absent from movie credits in the past few years so it's nice to see his work getting some attention.

A new 2CD complete release with music by Trevor Jones?
Ordered with closed eyes as fast as a Dolomites avalanche.

I am actually really excited to hear this new release; I don't think I've ever ordered something so fast. The film mix has a robustness and clarity that the original album sorely lacked, so I'm looking forward to hearing what the new remix will bring to the table.

When I was 14, I thought this was one of the greatest movies ever made; I now recognize it as a film only a 14-year-old boy could love. But then again, I've always loved man-versus-nature-versus-man thrillers; I even sat through "Surviving the Game." :D

As a great fan of Sylvester Stallone, obviously i have ordered this one immediately. Anyway when i have the economic possibilities i always order without esitation every Intrada's release. Intrada's staff, you know for me are the best and keep on working always in this way!!!
A question for Mr.Fake:
Doug are you also a great fan of Sly? I have this sensation:)....other dreams of mine would be a proper release of PARADISE ALLEY,COBRA and OVER THE TOP as for many other people in this board i presume!

I can't wait to receive this great masterpiece :D

Ciao from Roma
Riccardo

But Intrada has released the 3 best Stallone vehicles during the last year with First Blood, Rocky 4 and now Cliffhanger  (and Lock Up earlier)
It´s Cobra and Over the Top left and Intrada have made a homerun  Great scores to all those movies...

Bit late on ordering this one, glad to have got one just in time seeing as we're down to the last 200 - phew.

BIG Stallone fan, and this is one of his best movies from the 90's - without doubt and I'm a big fan of Jones too so this was a no brainer.

Hope we get to see JUDGE DREDD, NIGHTHAWKS and a 2 disc'er for LAST OF THE MOHICANS soon!

Thanks for another great release Intrada!

Doug, I actually really love the movie; my attempt at sarcasm stumbled, fell to its knees and died ignominiously. I've seen it many, many times; it's one of my favorite ways to pass a Saturday night. And nobody can take a paycheck and turn it into delirious high camp like John Lithgow: "Kill a few people and they call you a murderer. Kill a few million, and you're a conqueror. Gooo figgaaaah!"

It's great fun, but close scrutiny does it few favors. It's also one of those 90s-era action bloodbaths designed to give the audience sick kicks via glib Eurotrash antiheroes who gratuitously blow innocent people to pieces for no real reason. (I can't blame it for being a product of its time, but once my friends started coming back from the Middle East minus pieces of their souls, my tolerance for this kind of thing shrank.) I think Stallone is a fascinating, intelligent, complicated man, but Stallone the writer leaves much to be desired. That being said, I think he deserves credit for not defaulting to another one of his macho-superhero caricatures; I don't believe his character ever even picks up a gun, and most everything his character does in the film is more or less plausible, in the context of the story.

And I love the score -- always have. So many wonderful moments didn't make the original album; the whole night-vision chase sequence, for example, as well as the plane hijacking and the complete final helicopter sequence. The screenwriter Peter Briggs once related this anecdote to me: He was having dinner with Renny Harlin in London during postproduction, and Harlin kept whistling the title music to "The Rocketeer", which was clearly the influence for the opening cue. I always thought Jones did a great job of taking the direction determined by the temp track and putting enough of his own spin on it to make it distinctive, and I'm very excited to finally have a complete presentation available.
