Intrada Soundtrack Forum

The announcement of this set was a leap-out-of-my-seat moment when I saw it. I can't express how important this score was to my interest in film music. I saw this film many times during its original release (one of the benefits of having divorced parents was that I could double up the amount of times I could get to see movies I liked); as a child I could constantly be heard humming Pegasus' theme.

The original LP and the PEG expanded editions were favorites, but this new set is the way to listen to this score. It was too highly thematic and richly detailed, bursting with themes, leitmotifs, variations and stunning orchestral acrobatics. This is the London Symphony Orchestra at their explosive best, and several of the set-pieces that were truncated originally now play out in full and take on greater dimension. "Medusa" in particular benefits from the expansion, the shifting textures working just as much to describe the slithery character as to hit the dramatic notes of the scene.

And I have to admit that, as much as I respect and enjoy Laurence Olivier, hearing "The Constellations" (I'd never noticed that one can hear a snippet of Pegasus' theme as his constellation is shown) without his narration as Zeus flowing into that beautiful brass fanfare that begins the end credits was a moment that filled me with great joy.

Thank you so much for this release. I wasn't expecting it at all, but it is satisfying on a level that I am finding it difficult to express. Irrational perhaps, but the purpose of music like this is to excite and inspire. For me, at least, it succeeded beyond any expectations.

I'm curious... was Harryhausen sent a copy of the score? I'd bet he'd be THRILLED to hear this!

Wow, I have had all the previous CD releases of this score (even the LP), but this one
runs rings around those! I was getting concerned since this had not arrived yet, only
to find that my order from Intrada had fallen behind one of our stereo speakers where
I have my kids stack my packages. Well anyway, my wife came down in the morning
and asked if I really needed to play Clash Of The Titans so loud! I was impressed!
I am rubbing off on them!

Great release Intrada! Now onto Navy Seals!

Wow, what an aural feast !! Stunning additional tracks and the sound -- so much better than the old PEG release (which I had given away because it sounded worse than the LP !) Many thanks again, Intrada and to all involved...

I took time away from my usual routine of watching ridiculously obscure movies and saw this much more popular film for the first time last weekend. The film itself left a bit to be desired, but Rosenthal's score is about as awe-inspiring as music can be.

I'm glad that this 2-CD edition with brilliant sound stuck around for a while and complemented my late discovery of the score. I will definitely buy a copy once I know for sure what Intrada's upcoming titles are.

Really nice score. I own the original soundtrack LP as well as the PEG CD release, but -- pretty much needless to say -- the Intrada 2-CD set reigns supreme.

I have always enjoyed the original PEG album -- but since its re-release on Intrada, I have to say Rosenthal's masterpiece (yes, I think Clash of Titans is) is played very often. The sound is sumptuous, the thematic strong, the LSO performance amazing and I love, LOVE, the fact that the complete listening experience ends on Laurence Olivier's majestic voice over the LP version of the finale:
"(...) Even if we, the gods, are abandoned or forgotten, the stars will never fade, never, they will burn to the end of time."

Such could be said about Laurence Rosenthal's score: the music will shine forever.
