Of course E.T. ! This was the quintessential sf/fantasy/adventure movie score that set the sound for all the sf/fantasy/adventure movies in the 80's. Adventure on Earth is the greatest piece of music Williams ever wrote.

Location: Right underneath that cloud that looks like a rabbit... no, wait, it looks more like a cow now...
This last weekend, I listened to Close Encounters of the Third Kind again, and wow, yes... there is just something about this score... it is perhaps not just my favorite Spielberg/Williams collaboration but my favorite score by John Williams, period.

I love the musical arc, from the mysterious opening over the Ligeti/Penderecki influenced soundscapes to the uplifting fnale... it is just one excellent score.
