Over the last couple of years, Paramount has been throwing open the doors.

I mean, all the Star Trek releases.

I so remember first seeing the "Red Dawn" LP in Tower Records in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. I knew nothing of the music of this man with a name I wasn't sure how to pronounce, or of this label with a name that was equally mysterious to me. But I knew that the LP was $35 (a noble experiment, at the time), and that just didn't work for me.

It wasn't until I had to review "Conan the Destroyer" for my college newspaper that I first heard Poledouris's music and sought out the LP. I bought the first score a few weeks later and was blown away. By that point, the "Red Dawn" LP had dropped in price, and I got that soon thereafter, along with "The Blue Lagoon." (I subsequently bought "Red Dawn" two more times on CD, so while I resisted the $35 LP, I must have spent more than $55 on that score by now. Very clever, Doug!)

I look forward to buying "Conan the Barbarian" for the fourth time.

Still excited reading the update on Conan, thanks Doug. But as for Red October; a proper release hopefully right around the corner Speechless.
