Congratulations on another excellent Jerry Goldsmith CD release. Thank you very much for bringing one of the composer's few rejected works to official CD.

The samples were pretty interesting on this one. I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. :D

Wow!!. Just 17 posts for a previously unreleased Jerry score.

I suspect a few people have the unofficial release and so lack enthusism for this release, which is sad.

Thanks Intrada and ordered!

Just recieved my copy of 2 Days In The Valley, and I must say it impressed the hell out of me.

Track 15 We Are The Police / Alvin's Badge wins the best released track of the year sofar in my book.

Great release my fellow Intrada hamsters. :D
Always liked the movie, would have loved to see how Goldsmith's music would have worked within the film itself.

How could the Producer/Directed  reject this excellent Goldmith score, are they deaf and dumb? Instead of bowing down and kissing the ground Goldsmith walks on, they shit all over it.

My bet is that the movie "like all of todays movies" was re edited and Goldsmith did'nt have time to F#%K around with the producers so they hired another composer instead.

That's why Media Ventures are high in demand as composers for todays movies, they are very editor friendly as all their scores sound almost the same with almost no melody...

In a lot of ways, I really understand how this sort of thing can happen. I mean--take one of Goldsmith's finest scores ever, i.e. Under Fire or Islands in the Stream, and then paint that music, or at least its themes and/or motifs, over a film like 2 Days in the Valley. Quite simply, it's just not the right music for that particular sentiment. It's not always that the studio or director rejects or refuses to engage good work, but as a film evolves in editing, it just takes on a different personality than the composer originally gathered while writing the score.

I'm just glad they save these things for our sake. It's interesting to see what a composer like Goldsmith thought about a particular film as opposed to what was finally released.

I want to encourage everyone who has either been on the fence with this release or has waited indefinitely--hurry... purchase your copy immediately. It's now due to be removed from the catalog come Nov. 5th, or as soon as supplies expire.

I'm fascinated with the approach Jerry took with this work. Of course, sometimes a particular composition doesn't aid a picture as well as it can in its creator's eyes or even the studios' tastes, but that does not change the strength of the original work itself--in this case Jerry's warm and beautifully lonesome score. It's an important one, and, in my opinion, often reflects the maestro's aging sensitivities more so than any of his other works from the 90's. Of course, it's even more than heartbreaking we couldn't experience the picture with Jerry's personal touch intact, but thanks to Intrada and Paramount Pictures, it has had its chance to breathe a fresh and intriguing breath into our ears, no doubt as a darkened horse from a darkened vault. So, please, don't let this one slip away into the darkness again. We owe it to Jerry, Intrada's hard restorative work, and of course we owe it to ourselves to secure this composer's future legacy by achieving an understanding for even his most denied of feats.

I had this on my want list, saw the announcement, had to purchase- pushing it ahead of other "wants". Gorgeous theme.
