For me, FSM did already have at least one gem this year with its release of Days of Heaven. It is an all-around perfect presentation of a perfect score.

I don't get all this doggin' on FSM. They have had an incredible run over the last year or so, especially for Goldsmith lovers, with POLTERGEIST and OUTLAND, off the top of my head. Like Intrada, they deliver consistently and the product is always awesome.

Maybe that's because no one has been "doggin'" FSM.

Anyway, another way to look at the poplarity of Holy Grails is to sum up the ones that were constantly mentioned, along with their label in a half dozen:

1. Goonies (Varese Club)
2. Back to the Future (Intrada)
3. Spartacus (Varese Club)
4. Conan the Barbarian (intrada later this year)
5. Predator (Varesew Club, then Intrada)
6. The Right Stuff (Varese Club)

Granted previous years there have been such excellent FSM stuff as: SUPERMAN, STAR TREK, OUTLAND, POLTERGEIST - but there's been nothing like that so far THIS year,
whereas Intrada and La-La Land, have released many titles like them already this year - with many more still to come.

No "doggin'" - just facts.

It's starting to get late in the day now for this year, and the only major one rumoured is: GREMLINS,
there hasn't been anything much of great excitement from the SILVER AGE, from FSM this year.

It's about the music. At least for me. I don't care if there are 1000, 3000, 10000 or a million copies of a particular soundtrack CD; I buy them not BECAUSE they are limited, but I am simply glad that these "limited" editions allow for previously unreleasable releases.
I was surprised that Morricone's TREASURE OF THE FOUR CROWNS, a score very much in league with THE UNTOUCHABLES, took so long to sell out (if it even sold out), even though it was limited to only 1500 copies. Others sell out like hotcakes.
Well, whatever, there is no WAY I could buy every single release of every label, so I have to choose, and I choose according to what I like to listen to. Makes no difference to me if it's unlimited (STAR TREK II), or totally limited.

I'm glad Lukas, Doug, and the rest pay no attention to the whining Holy Grail list-makers and re-categorizers or some of us would have a pathetically small collection of film scores right now.

Yeah, if it were up to that one guy who dispareges '80's scores, we'd have none of that goodness. If it were up to CocoNutJoe ... I probably wouldn't buy anything form Intrada ;-)
