Exciting! As much as I enjoy reading essays, articles, and blogs about film music, I think podcasts are a much better medium for the subject.
Here's what you need to do to publish a podcast so that it can be subscribed by podcatchers, such as iTunes, and downloaded automatically to mobile devices, such as iPods, iPhones, and iPads:
(1) You need hosting. You already have that. Where you're currently uploading sound samples for your CDs (
http://www.intrada.net/sound/) would be a good place.
(2) You need software to manage your podcast episodes and generate an RSS feed for them. You use this software to enter basic information about each podcast episode such as "What's it about?" and "What is URL for the MP3 file?" This software will then produce an RSS file. This file also needs to be hosted, i.e.
http://www.intrada.net/sounds/rogercast.xml
Your forum is powered by PHP, so you could use this PHP-based software (
http://podcastgen.sourceforge.net/) to upload MP3s, manage your podcast episodes, and generate your RSS feed.
(3) Next, you publicize the URL for your podcast (
http://www.intrada.net/sounds/rogercast.xml) so people can find it and subscribe to it. By publish, I mean "mention it here, the FSM forum, or Facebook." Also, I would submit it to the iTunes Podcast Directory. This makes it really easy for iTunes/iPod/iPhone/iPad users to find your podcast, subscribe to it, and download new episodes.
It takes a little bit of work and know-how. If you plan to do more episodes, I highly recommend investing the time to set this up. Needless to say, you will likely need Mark Hammon's assistance. I would gladly lend a hand, too, if you'd like.
Good luck!
