Intrada Soundtrack Forum

Not a bad theory, GoblinScore - I definitely get affected by music, whatever I listen too, and I'm listening most of the day. I work as a video editor, and unless I absolutely have to hear what's on-screen, I've always got music playing as I work as well.

However, my next most beloved type of music next to soundtracks is pop (and girlpop at that), so I can always rescue my mood by putting on Siobhan Donaghy, Girls Aloud, The Saturdays, or as of today, Ellie Goulding and then I'm happy again. (NB, readers in the US might not have the first idea about who any of those artists are)

I love having a music list that can go from abstract Jerry Fielding (Demon Seed is not one to play for a happy day!) to mainstream pop at the touch of a button! Though I'm certain that Graham's Theme is going to be played a HELL of a lot when my CD touches down in a couple of weeks!

Yeah, I hear ya. More than anything else, you made me think of that guy "Thor" who is on a crusade against, among other things, non-calm film music. He decided some time ago that his collection was "too goddamn bombastic" and was seriously getting him down. He declared that he would only listen to calm music from now on. Since then he has made a point of thread-crapping anywhere someone expresses enthusiasm for music that isn't calm.

He and everyone else can do what they like, of course, but is all the crusading really necessary? Or maybe I'm missing that starving children in Africa are benefiting by their ferocious efforts? 'cuz I can't imagine anything else that would justify some of the stuff they post over there.

I'm getting a bit tingly anticipating the "Manhunter" CD, I admit. Might just watch the flick again tonight in preparation.

Jeez, I'm elated! You guys are like long lost brothers or something!

I really just skip past 'Thor's' comments at FSM, they seem to just pooo
poo everything. I often prefer calm music, but coming home at rush hour and a Broughton scherzo works better than Eidelman piano noodlings, go figure......

Ironically enough sifr2, I ALSO prefer what I call chick bands, and am going to have to investigate the above - all mine are pretty much US based, except Goldfrapp :):) oh, and Beth Gibbons of course....

All I know is you get a bunch of angry dudes together on a board who are never satisfied and you get......well, what ya have 'across the street'. I know the 'Pollyanna' approach to life is no good all the time, but dang, so much venom when a release comes out that pisses people off - if you don't like it, who cares, or give a reason! Maybe Bill Petersen ran over your dog, so this new CD is evil to your ears!

I love that Manhunter has led to this little oasis of calm and happiness! More reasons to be thankful Intrada got hold of it!

GoblinScore (by the way, LOVE Suspiria as well, and also Simonetti's Demons score), if you like Goldfrapp - new album soon! - you should definitely look into Siobhan Donaghy. Her first album is sort of alternative guitar pop and the second is more electronic and ethereal. Girls Aloud are mainly full on power pop and The Saturdays are more traditional straight pop music. Are tracks 1-3 & 5 vocal or instrumental?

1, 3 & 5 are vocal (More kind of vocal in 5's case). 2 is pretty much instrumental.

You can hunt around and find them on youtube if you're curious.
