Elmer Bernstein's The Black Cauldron.

It was on TV last night (or the night before, I don't remember; I could not watch it): it has to have been a sign.

If not in Varèse's new batch, then in one of Intrada's December batches, for sure.

Varese has released a Victor Young score in three of the last four of their year-end club batches, so maybe we will get another this year. Here's hoping!

The way I discovered this title was being released by varèse is weird enough to be told, by the way. I was listening to the Silver Bullet main title extract (which I ordered as well, great score too) while they were posting every new CD Club, and from the first notes I immediatly recognized Short Circuit. "What the hell ?! Short Circuit is being released ??? They've made a mistake ?? They switched the extracts ? No way !!". And it was the last title to appear on their page. Imagine how much I was excited !! Rarely a Varèse batch has risen so much adrenaline in me ! Like a short circuit in my head !! :lol:

I ordered SHORT CIRCUIT and SILVER BULLET. I'm familiar with and enjoy both of these, so it wasn't a tough call to make. If Bernstein's REPORT TO THE COMMISSIONER is still around this time next month, I'll happily purchase a copy of that too, just based off the samples...

Well no Victor Young this time, but an Alfred Newman is just as pleasing! Great samples on this one.

I picked up Bernstein's REPORT TO THE COMMISSIONER and Shire's Short Circuit and couldn't be happier with those releases.

I look forward to December 5.

Now if La La Land goes ahead with their promise for a Batman: The Animated Series release, this will have been one awesome year for scores for me.
