What things sell for on the secondary market is beside the point anyway from Intrada's viewpoint as they don't profit from it.

I strongly suspect that there won't be a repressing because of all the whining about it not being "limited" anymore, I bought my 50 copies in good faith, I won't beleive anything you say, blah, blah blah. Intrada probably doesn't need the headache.

Doesn't really matter because CD-R's of the thing will be making the rounds almost as soon as it ships for all those who don't want to spend 50+ bucks on E-Bay. I certianly won't blame them for that.

Personally, I hope all speculators have to eat these damn things and one day, when collectors stop being sheep to be shorn, they will. As long as you are willing to pay absurd prices for CDs on EBAY, speculators will continue to thrive.

Well, I'll say this for this thread, it's brought everybody and their Aunt Sophie out of the wood work. Sort of like hitting a hornet's nest with a rock. If nothing else, the board probably added more new posters in 24 hours than it has since it's inception last December.

As per what Mr. Fake posted in an earlier thread,
The initial INCHON CD took ten years to sell 1500 copies.
That was from 1988-1998 and since then the atmosphere surrounding limited edition score CDs has changed,
plus during that time Mr. Goldsmith was still with us.
Obviously, INCHON was not expected to explode as it did...

This new INCHON 2CD set also featured some standout qualities:
The score truly complete with improved sound over the other CD's master.
The complete, improperly mixed LP edition supervised by Goldsmith.
High quality production values, art and notes far superior to the old INCHON CD.
All for the value price of $19.99 (Same price as the first CD)

Best thing to do would be to find out how many people missed out and act accordingly.

I'll bet most of those who missed this CD feel a bit repesssed right now...


As it turns out many of La-la Lands CDs have had "promo" extras of their limited titles pop up from time to time exaggerating their posted edition limit.

Of, couse a similar sell-out occured with Bruce Broughton's YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES,
as it was announced very early and pre-orders were accepted in advance for a mere 500 copy run.
That 2CD set sold out before the release date with the differences being virtually no liner notes and a $40 pricetag.
I'm sure those who missed that one were none to happy either...
And no repressing was ever offered.

Good grief this thread has gone on and on, well I told my wife about it just to get a different opinion and she thinks you should see how many the dealers want and press that much plus a hundred for Intrada to sell.

Okay. First, thank you for some stunning feedback. I asked, you responded. With just a few exceptions, your posts have made it pretty clear that we've earned your trust. I can't think of anything more important to me at the moment.

The rationale for issuing "limited editions" is multi-faceted: union policies that thankfully make many projects possible, licensors finding they can satisfy a small core audience without having to get into complex, long-term agreements and other potentially expensive rights issues, the competitive marketplace where labels like ours have to convince you to spend your dollars here instead of at Best Buy and Amazon and who-knows-where, a flood of titles available on this same crowded marketplace struggling for attention and on and on. It all costs money and if it doesn't generate money in return then we all lose out. The music is lost.

I'm sure these thoughts have occurred to the good people at FSM, Varese and elsewhere, too. It's all part of looking for a business model that works for us and gives something back to you few people that really care about the music.

I also see that most of you aren't thrilled about speculators, eBay gougers, hoarders and whatever. We're not really happy about 'em either. But in a system such as ours, it's a by-product that exists and we all just have to live with it.

So, here's what we've decided to do. Nothing. In other words, there will be no re-pressing. INCHON has come, it has gone. Faster than we expected. But we asked you to prioritize your spending on it with the understanding that we were limiting it to 1500 copies. So we're going to leave it at that. We earned your trust, we don't want to break it.

The feedback was invaluable. You're the people we're working for. You had very interesting things to say. I asked and you answered. Thank you.
