I'm sure I speak for most here when I say we love Intrada.

My earlier post was certainly not a dig at Intrada, I just hate what I called the "bloodthirsty cheering" that accompanies these ultra-fast sell outs. It reminds me of the Carousel scenes in Logan's Run, I don't know why!

These ultra-fast sell outs are unfortunate, not the to-be-cheered "way to go". They happen. We have to live with it. But they're more unfortunate than fortunate. From a holistic point of view.

Selling out in as short a time in a month is okay by me, because at least a month really is enough time for everyone to see the release and act on it.

I mean, it's great that Intrada et al did great business, but under-estimating the volumes mean that Intrada et al lost out on even more future-securing revenues, as well as generating frustrated buyers.

This is why I'm in favour of labels retaining the option to go back and do a 2nd run if it is commercially viable and if they wish to do so.

And of course they don't have to either.

I purchased Predator despite having the Varese edition because of the improvements in sound. I did so not long after the title went on sale, and not realizing how fast the sell-out would occur. I'd be willing to offer somebody who missed these releases my copy of the Varese edition for the $20 I paid for it when it came out.

I understand every point of view CoconutJoe, I love Predator music too and I think the sound quality of Varese edition is good enough. My post is just my point of view

I believe that 'fair use' law means you can have backup copies of what you own for as long as you own it. But once you part with it, e.g. sell it on, you're supposed to remove your backup copies.

i.e. Buying a CD, ripping it, then selling it while you keep the rip is not considered fair use and is, technically, a copyright infringement.

Just as buying a CD, making a CD-R copy, then selling the original is not considered fair use.

Hey, I'm only pointing out what I think is considered fair copying with respect to intellectual property law. Personally, I don't give two hoots what anyone does.

Based on what I read here, some appear to feel that one's responsibility as purchaser of this or any other CD, after personally enjoying it, is either to bury it in the backyard or burn it. I simply don't agree.
