While listening to this CD I found myself thinking about scenes from the films and just laughing out loud. I have to listen to it again and try not to do that. Excellent release Intrada! The sound is great!

Intrada, A THOUSAND THANKS for this wonderful release. I just listened to it and am now spinning it again. I was so used to the previous greatest hits soundtrack that this was an unexpected delight. Most of all for me, it's about cue 4, The Bagman. I've always loved the Clouseau theme, and this version of it is simply the best. It's that tak-tak-tak-tak percussion that makes it. LOVE IT. I'm gonna play that cue to death. TO DEATH, I tell ya!

This score is much better than the film deserves; how unfortunate it took so long to hear it as a proper album.

I was listening to all the Panther scores released by our beloved specialty labels the other night, in celebration of Quartet's great new The Pink Panther Strikes Again.

This one, while it may be the shortest, is really, really good so kudos and thanks to Intrada for putting it out!

Interestingly my least favorite of the bunch was Revenge of the Pink Panther (the last film in the series Sellers actually worked on before he died).

I also included Kritzerland's reissue of the LP album for Inspector Clouseau which is honestly really fantastic. It sadly lacks Mancini's great theme but has a great theme of its own and Mancini already set the template for leaving the Pink Panther theme behind in his previous score for the series, A Shot in the Dark. I think Bruce K. said it was mostly the complete score but I for one would be up for more if it can be licensed and tapes found.

Jose of Quartet also revealed on the FSM board that a complete mono source for A Shot in the Dark (otherwise only released as two tracks on a single) *does* survive, but that because of the single there would have to be licensing with RCA. Since Intrada has worked with them before, I wonder if they can work their magic on a restored version of this "lost" classic Mancini score?
