Hi everyone
I wonder if I am the only one who think that the Lord of the Rings soundtrack is the greatest. However, I was listening to various movie scores the other day and found something that caught my interest. Randy Newman wrote the soundtrack to The Natural. And at the track The End Title at time 2:15 you hear the exact same tunes as many of the LOTR tracks, e.g time 6:23 min in the Breaking of the Fellowship track.

You agree? I can“t find any other discussions regarding this on any forums.

This strikes me as fairly basic stepwise motion that just happens to take a similar shape for a few bars. I have a hard time imagining it being anything more than a simple coincidence. (Furthermore, Newman sounds like he's starting from the fifth above the tonic, whereas Shore's theme -- at the point where they become similar -- starts on the fourth.)
