It's a great experience to hear this score in full after so many years of being familier with the classic Mancini LP. The big band tracks are primo.

Always thought it was funny, after a brutal and dangerous day of chasing and capturing various wild beasts on the African plains, John Wayne and crew were always up to going back to their super cool pad for some drinks and big band music on the hi-fi.

This CD is tops all around. And the best part is, I have Charade to rediscover as well.

Finally had the chance to listen to this holy grail. What a revelation. After years of listening to the original album (Theme from Hatari is one of my highest played tracks in iTunes), it is fascinating to hear all the variations Mancini develops. I particularly like it when the theme drops away just to the drums during some of the hunting tracks and have always liked this in the film. Now to watch the film again and relive the context. This should be no problem in our house as it is my wife's favourite film. I think we have 3 DVD copies of it, just in case.
