Not only was Spiderman amazing but Horner's score was too.
I actualy thought it fitted the movie quite well & cannot wait to spin my copy more times than spidey's web.
Sony announcing that this will be a trilogy i'm hoping that they keep Horner onboard to score part 2 next year.
Then maybe part 3 if he can fit it around Avatar 2,3 & 4.
Good times ahead for JH fans.

Haven't seen the film yet... tomorrow... but ordered the score... along with a couple of other things. Cannot wait for them to arrive. I predict Mr. Horner's score will be played many times.

Another awesome year with Intrada... 2012

I was impressed for almost the entire CD... Horner certainly knows how to create themes and motifs and whatnot. And he's one of the most emotionally rich composers in film. I have only one disappointment to share regarding AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and it's not a big deal, but I really wished the score ended with a bang instead of a... well, not a whimper, but subdued anyway.

My passion for endings is well known. And my passion for Horner's ability to wrap up his works with some of the finest endings, be they powerful (THE ROCKETEER, RANSOM, ZORRO) or delicate (TITANIC, GLORY, APOLLO 13) is also known. This man does some of the best. When I finish listening to one of his CDs I always feel like the experience was a whole one.

So this time... not so much. The ending? Subdued, somewhat aloof. I was looking for something with a little more pizzazz. Perhaps after seeing the movie I'll sort it out. Until then, it dampens my enthusiasm for repeated playings.

I just received the CD of this newest James Horner Score and have now listened to it here and there and randomly. I think it is, so far, pretty lame.

I love Horner - hence part of my name - and I haven't seen the film yet, but so far I am underwhelmed. I hope it will change after seeing the film. Maybe I am in another mood or I had other expectations....

As for now I will go back and listen to my top three of the moment STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE; STAR TREK V (Intrada Edition) and HATARI.

Plus the Main Title of Horners 48HRS, which should help to ease my Spider-Man disappointment.

Holy Grails: PSYIII/ESC TO ATHENA/M'RAKER/WILD GEESE II/NIGHTGEN

I received the CD yesterday and have already listened to it 10 times ! This score is A-MA-ZING (pun intented ).

I was first very pleased to hear Dhafer Youssef's voice in the beginning, then the soprano boy of Avatar and later the strong voice of Lisbeth Scott. I thought this was a very colorful, audacious and refined way of beginning this score !
Then, I was completely hooked by the epicness of the music, the main theme, the love theme, the action, the poundering piano, the delicate solo piano (performed by James himself) and of course the "comic book" wink at his fans (the short Rocketeer fanfare).

Everything in this score is so EPIC and refined in the same time, this is pure genius, a perfect balance of everything, a perfect score ! All I want is just to plunge inside again and again...

Bravo Maestro !

Holy Grails: PSYIII/ESC TO ATHENA/M'RAKER/WILD GEESE II/NIGHTGEN

It's a very nice score. I'm not too keen on the film itself, but the score certainly did not drag the film down.

The piano and synth motifs are delightful, and the main theme in its full blaring glory is quite the inspiration. It all makes for a compelling album at an agreeable price.
