@Doug: may i ask what the alternate STAR TREK V fanfare sounded like? More like the tyical RAMBO-style of the time or was it modeled after the Courage tune?

I've been wanting to ask this very question! More importantly, WHY wasn't it included in the LaLaLand release!?!?!?!?!

It wasn't included because it wasn't recorded. Doug only heard a run-through, apparently, and then it was discarded. It *might* still exist in manuscript form, though, so if some label were doing a new Goldsmith re-recording they could supposedly find it and include it as a bonus (I'm sure there are other things like that, such as the unrecorded Williams cues mentioned in FSM's booklet for the Superman box).
