Got it, played it. All I can say is Wow! Even if it didn't have extra music, the dramatically improved sound quality is worth the price alone. And I didn't even know the score opened with a blaster beam before! And then there's the extra music. Finally to have the destruction of the Enterprise and Genesis cues! And having the original artwork on the cover! And...and...what a great release!

Whenever I have friends over who live in the classical world, and we have a song-off, I play them track 1 off this album just to demonstrate that Horner knew how to build a fire. This new recording puts more kindling under that.

Yep, great score, great release. I have just listened to it for the first time and I have to say, I am even happier about this one than about FSM's also terrific release of STAR TREK II.
It's not that STAR TREK III is a "better" score, it's not, in fact, it's essentially a direct continuation of the first score, a true "sequel" score. But while it's nice to have an expanded STAR TREK II with extra music, that score was already better represented on the original CD than STAR TREK III.
The sound quality for III has been enormously improved, and the extra music fleshed out the score considerably.

And, of course, "Stealing the Enterprise" is still one of the most joyfully thrilling cues James Horner ever composed. Nice to have it in two different takes on this release.
