Sorry about the late notice, but I just found
out a few minutes ago (perusing the Directv channel guide). If you have the Encore Western channel, the 'Have Gun - Will Travel' episode "A Head Of Hair" will be on today at 3:30 Pacific time. Most of the HGWT episodes were assigned CBS "library" music, but this particular one was actually scored by Jerry Goldsmith in 1960. And it's like discovering a new Goldsmith western score. Really worth a watch, if you can....his style is apparent from the first few bars, and there are great little glimpses of things to come.

And to add to it, it's a really good epiode at that. Directed by Andrew McLaglen and guest- starring Ben Johnson (in a really quirky role) and George Kennedy. It's worth a watch.

"The Fatalist" was another wholly Goldsmith-scored episode of HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL. And in addition to "The Whispering Tree", other memorable Goldsmith scored episodes of GUNSMOKE include "Doc Judge", "Love Thy Neighbor" and "The Blacksmith".
