I don't know. The scoring could definitely have been worse, and there are elements I like of the new Batman scores, but I think some kind of middle ground or balance between the extremes of Elfman and Zimmer/Howard would really be perfect. Just listen to my oft-cited example of this, Unbreakable, to get some taste of how it could work.
The films themselves seem to me to be breeding ground for simply classic scores. Unfortunately, the scores seemed to be, to some degree, a casualty of the obsessive quest for differentiation from what's gone before.
