All Hail the Blue Box!!
Mine flew in today and everyone in the office left this evening with The Theme buzzing around in their heads! Lucky them, eh? Initially I wasn't quite as enthusiastic about this release as many others but now that I've heard it the sound quality on Williams' "Superman - The Movie" score is well worth the pricey upgrade alone.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through Alexander Courage's "Superman IV: The Quest For Peace" and it's every bit the delightful surprise I was expecting. Isn't it GREAT when an unknown piece of music knocks you back on your heels? At the risk of courting blasphemy, and it may be because it's new to me, I think I prefer Courage's take on the love theme in "Fresh Air" to Williams' original version. Courage puts "March of the Villains" through more variations than I, a mere mortal, would have thought possible.
Can't wait to get to Ken Thorne's and Ron Jones' music - although I think I'll give Giorgio Moroder a miss for now....
