Intrada Soundtrack Forum

Christian, you have inspired me to take a picture of part of my collection. I also want to thank the composers who patiently and unselfishly give to their fans. The picture of Howard Shore patiently signing autographs was taken after a performance of THE LORD OF THE RINGS SYMPHONY in Seattle.

Great display, I love it! (Leonard Rosenman, eh...?)

I've got some more requests down the line...four from before Christmas are still out, and in cases of two of these, I don't think I'll get a reply. Another two I sent out just this week, after I contacted the composers' via their website and lo and behold! It's not a problem at all.

My collection is actually in two locations because it is so large. My wife has complained for years and we finally bought custom CD book cases which are the same ones that Intrada uses in their offices.

I have a wall in a spare room which is 110 inches across by 96 inches high which holds the "A"s through the "R"s (It's actually six cabinets all put together. I still need one more set, a top and bottom, but I don't know where I'm going to put them):



Then I have our walk in closet which holds the "S"s through the "Z"s:



Directly across from the wall o' CDs are all the Varese Club and FSM Series CDs:



Right next to those are all the Intrada Special Collection CDs:



I've been buying soundtrack CDs since 1986, and those are ONLY my soundtracks. Prior to 1986 it was LPs and cassettes (sorry I didn't know better...). Now if I only had the cabinets and space for my DVD collection!

*Edit* Yes, the shelves have warped over the years. I used to have the CDs double stacked on each shelf. It was near impossible to find anything quickly. Now at least I know where to start looking. My biggest fear regarding the shelves in the closet were EARTHQUAKES!. I did lose one CD TORA TORA TORA due to a dropping mishap and quickly purchased another one.

Those shelves wrapped around the full length of the closet (which I did not photograph) and there is also a shelf that runs the one side of the closet (which was also not photographed). It was underneath those two shelves and was completely full, now it holds my pop, jazz and classical CDs.

Holy crap -- in the closet you can see the shelves buckling under the weight!

I wanna visit.
